Wellness Care

The Troy & Heights Animal Hospital veterinarians monitor your pet’s general health during regular wellness checkups. These exams also allow us an opportunity to detect any minor health concerns before they become serious.

Because your pet cannot communicate their needs quickly, maintaining a schedule of regular medical checkups is critical. Our veterinary team may also want to do diagnostic tests like blood testing and X-rays as part of the examination to evaluate your pet’s health.

Just as our health can decline or rapidly change as we age, the same applies to our pets. For dogs and cats in their senior years, routine blood testing, urinalysis (urine testing), and other tests are suggested to keep an eye on our senior pets changing health concerns.

Regular blood testing and a urinalysis may be recommended for younger pets to set a standard for their health. These findings will be compared as your pet grows older. Routine checkups allow your veterinarian to form a picture of your pet’s overall health and establish baseline health indicators. Examinations are also crucial in detecting problems before they get out of hand, ensuring that your pet receives the best possible outcome. Our veterinarians recommend a complete physical examination once a year for an adult dog and twice a year for a senior dog.
